The Slave of Preferences

Everybody has her/his own preferences. Preferences are our dear friends, however, our personalisations /customations can easily make us slaves of our routines / rules and habits. They can even lead to avoidance behaviour and turn to our bitter enemies. Doing something habitually because you find it appropriate or satisfying blinds you, limits your freedom or makes you dependent and addicted.

Fortunately, human beings in contrast to animals can break the habitual vicious circle and decide against their preferences. The moment the vicious circle is interrupted the door to freedom is opened and new opportunities appear on the horizon. It is worth trying.
