Bei Kaffee und Kuchen

Es war Sonntag um 13 Uhr. Sie rief ihre Freundin an und sagte: Wir, mein Mann und ich, sind in deiner Nähe. Wenn du Zeit hast, kommen wir zum Kaffee und Kuchen vorbei. Als die beiden deutschen Jugendfreundinnen sich nach 30 Jahren wiedertrafen und sehr vertieft waren in ihren Erinnerungen, lauschte der Ehemann unbeabsichtigt:

Das hätte ich dir im Leben nicht zugetraut - so einen flotten Mann zu angeln, sagte die Freundin. Seine Frau erwiderte: Weißt du - es ist nicht alles Gold was glänzt. Die Freundin verbesserte sich schnell: Das habe ich nicht so gemeint.

Over Coffee and Cake

It was Sunday afternoon when she phoned her friend: I am with my husband very close to where you live and if you like we can meet for an hour or two over coffee and cake. The two childhood friends met again after 30 years over the traditional German “afternoon coffee and cake”.

The two ladies were deeply immersed in their conversation when the husband overheard his wife´s friend saying: I wouldn´t  have thought you were capable of catching a smart guy like your husband. His wife replied and said: Well, you see  - all that glitters is not gold. Her friend noticed the problem and hastened to add: No, I didn´t mean that.
